Week 42: Cotton Candy

Week 42

Week 42: Two more photos from Rocky Mountain House’s Pro Rodeo— that is, the midway. Plus the beginning of my new obsession with faceted shapes.

Week 41: Pessimist

Week 41

Week 41: 11 more weeks to go. Which also means 11 weeks til my 29th birthday. Woof.

Anyway, this is quite simply one photo from Quebec City and a texture I downloaded from here (lovely vintage wallpaper stuff). I’ve been playing with Japanese Washi Tape and love the look of its layers, especially with patterns. You might see some of that influence here as well.

Week 40: The Vogue

Week 40

Week 40: A photo project dedicated to one of the best live shows I saw in 2010: Dan Mangan (with the Burning Hell) at the Myer-Horowitz theatre. Unfortunately the M-H is part of the Students Union Building at the U of A, and not really much to look at. So I took a photo of the Vogue Theatre in Vancouver and used it instead (and yes, Dan played there on this tour… so it all works out). I just hope this makes up for the other fan art I did which could be considered creepy (I’m sorry and will try to stop photoshopping cat heads onto non-cat bodies, but it’s kind of addicting). The band photos I used were sadly not taken by me: credit is owed to Paul Blinov.

Week 39: Cat’s Cradle.

Week 39

Week 39: Quebec city + Paris streetscapes, in sepia. Finding myself drawn to geometric facets, especially irregular ones. So I did up some connecting lines in Illustrator and added that to the mix. Voila, as they say.

Week 38: Practical Geometry

Week 38

Week 38 intersects the architecture and lines of an interesting building in Montreal with the raw texture of rock formations in Cabo San Lucas.
