Week 7: Heart in a cage.

Week 7

Photo Project continues, this week back on schedule. This week I incorporate a hand-drawn sketch from an old notebook, a new photo from my Texas road-trip, an old photo from my Paris trip and a scan of a photocopy manipulation of a photo I took in Spain of some construction (whew, that was a mouthful). I had “Bullet with Butterfly Wings” in my head as I did this… but I was remembering the lyrics wrong: it’s “rat in a cage” not “heart in a cage”– that’s a Strokes song.

“See I’m stuck in a city, but I belong in a field” … yes, that works. Thanks Strokes.

Week 6: Splash.

Week 6

Week 6 of the Photo Project. This is a little later than usual, I’ve had a busy week catching up from SxSW! The pictures used in this piece are from my most recent trip to Texas… and the small-town road trip I went on with my friend/host Daniel. The splatters are from a photoshop brush set that I can’t seem to find a link for. Ah well.

Week 5

Week 5 of the Photo Project. This week’s theme: Austin, TX. And if you can make the connection to the title without googling, well, you and I we could be friends. So the theme is Austin because that’s where I am this week, living it up at SxSW 2010. All of the photos used are from my personal collection: most of which from my first visit to Texas in 2005. The polaroid is not from that trip (but from that “era”) and neither is a photogram I used, but everything else is (including that scary bird who tried to steal my muffin one morning).

Week 4

Week 4 of the Photo Project. All images from my personal collection. This week I add a collage I created for a printmaking class (it was a potential woodcut) and a sketch of some hand-drawn a’s to a photo I took of the Low Level bridge in Edmonton. Yes, that’s a lens flare. Don’t judge me.

Neon is the new black.

Week 3

Week 3 of the Photo Project. All images from my personal collection. Decided to leave me out of this one… at least until I find the appropriate image.
