CANOE: Visual Blogging

January 24, 2011

This last week I had the pleasure of attending Workshop West’s CANOE Festival– a week long theatre festival- and blogging on the shows I saw. What started out as a joke, led to me doing a different kind of blog– visual blogs.

I tried to choose a medium that was appropriate to each event: My Name Is was a reading of a play still in development; Sound Machine incorporated a bunch of coloured, layered scribbles; TUMIT, a visual collage; and for Absurdesque, only an animated gif could do. I urge you to check out all the blogs (and you can also see mine below) and check out the Edmonton theatre scene… some amazing work is being showcased in our city ALL the time! Well our screenprinting night o’ fun was last night. and we screened to our heart’s content. Here are some of the “finished” products (in quotations because I still plan on refashioning from them).

Grammar curator.

Parachute love.

More parachute love.

The pillowcases will become either sundresses or part of a patchwork totebag. The t-shirts: underwear as the link I posted earlier suggests.

I’ll post pics when I have the final creations assembled.

Exciting event ahead which will hopefully get my butt into refashioning gear: Love Those Clothes You Wear , a SNAP fundraiser. Artists submitting wearables get 50% of the profits.

Next Tuesday me and some ladies are heading to SNAP to print some of our designs onto clothing (or fabric to become clothing).
